Hello everyone

The next Central Health Forum is coming up on Wednesday, 25th March from 11am-1pm at Hollingdean Development Trust, Thompson Road, BN1 7BH. Find the agenda here. 

We are coming together quarterly to discuss health priorities in our neighbourhoods and communities, with the theme of the next meeting being Mental Health & Wellbeing provision for the Central ICT area.

At the last meeting we discussed the following (See the December minutes here)

  • Falls Prevention, as one of the major reasons for hospital admissions. Stay Strong, Steady & Independent campaign starting now. Find all links and more information about other services for older people from Ageing Well and more in meeting minutes.
  • British Heart Foundation Defibrillator funding for communities: https://www.bhf.org.uk/how-you-can-help/how-to-save-a-life/defibrillators/apply-for-a-free-defibrillator-for-your-community#Who_can_apply
  • Hollingdean Community Centre hosts the new monthly Hollingdean Wellbeing Hubs with the following themes being Healthy Eating & Diabetes support (March), Women's Health (April), Men's Health (May), Ear, Eye & Oral Health (June). These sessions run the second Thursday of every month from 12.30-2.30pm. They are drop-in and you can get a lot of advice and health support, whilst also having a pay-as-you-feel lunch during Real Junk Food Cafe hours. Hollingbury’s Old Boat Community Centre will start monthly Wellbeing Hubs from April. If your service can support these sessions, please get in touch.

  • What High Intensity Users are, and how they are supported from Neil Anscombe, British Red Cross
  • Community Wellbeing Directories
